We had a busy busy week this week. It seems like every week is like that in the summer for some reason. It's weird, because it's not like summer is all that different for our family. It's not like we're in school so we have a few months off. For some reason I feel like I need to cram in activities and have fun things for the kids to do EVERY day of the week, when really, we have all year to do fun things. No need to cram. Just relax and enjoy the same weather we have all year long here in SoCal.
I did finish the girl's room this week. It turned out just how I wanted. I am feeling so relieved we got it all done! 6 weeks to spare (or less, hopefully more like 4 weeks).
Here are some pictures of the room....
I made that quilt for Addie. I am really happy with how it turned out. Lex asked why her quilt was "plain old" (hers was the first quilt I had made, it was made with love, but it wasn't all that impressive). She wanted one like Addie. I guess I'll be making her one for Christmas.
We found a great splash pad about 4 miles from our house. Lex and her friend Ella had a great time. Gauge napped and I got to visit with a good friend :)
Gauge has been waking up between 5:30 and 6:00 the past few weeks. He is about ready for a nap by 8. It's not an ideal schedule. I need to get them back on schedule this week so that they are in synch when baby comes home.
I took lex on a lunch date to her FAVORITE place ever. She loves it there. I think mostly because they have the awesome ketchup packets (she always grabs 3 to take home ).
That stool is Gauge's "key to the universe." He drags it everywhere and uses it to get into everything. He is starting to understand more. He LOVES throwing things in the trash for me, helping me pick up toys, and giving hugs and kisses (especially kisses... lots and lots of those). He also learned the word "hot" the past few weeks. He know what it means too. He says it when the grounds hot on his bare feet, when the bath water is too warm, or when I give him too hot of food. He's one pretty smart boy.
He also loves climbing into sissy's nicely made bead right after she makes it.
They love to cook with me. It is a lot messier and it takes a lot more time, but I enjoy it too. We were making cookies for cousin Dixie's baby shower this week :)
Me and Dixie at her baby shower. She is 36 weeks, I am 33. We're both having girls :) It will be so fun to have babies the same age!
Auntie Jess gave lexi curlers for her hair. She was so excited to try them out. She kept looking in the mirror saying, "I look good mom! Really good! People will say wow Lexi, you look good." haha
I took them out the next day and POOF. That is some curly hair!! It was super tight, fro-like curls until after she got sweaty on our hike and took a nap. Then the curls relaxed into some beautiful curls. I'm glad she has so much self confidence. That's an important thing to have.
I am looking forward to taking an easy week this week, working on getting the kids back on schedule.
