My mom flew into town Thursday, the week before Gauge was born so she could help me get the house all ready. It was so great having her in town. I really enjoyed spending time with my mom and my mom really enjoyed spending time with Lexi and I.
While she was in town we ventured out for one last hoorah as a family of three before baby Gauge made his grand appearance. Tyson and I wanted to take time to enjoy Lexi's last days as and only child. We decided to spend the day at Irvine Regional Park.
It is such a cool park! There are tons of biking, walking, and running trails, a pond full of ducks, numerous playgrounds, a train ride, and a small zoo to boot.
We packed our picnic lunch and we were out the door.
We ate our lunch and played on one of the playgrounds for a while before we ventured down to the duck pond with a loaf of old moldy bread. Lexi had a blast feeding the ducks!! The ducks would get to fighting over the bread and she would laugh and laugh. She was pretty sad when we ran out of the goods.
After we exhausted our supply of bread, we headed over to the zoo. It is a small zoo but has a few different animals including a cougar, grizzly bears, owls (lexi’s favorite for some reason), wild boars, snakes, and a few other caged animals as well as a petting zoo full of goats and bunnies.
Although scared at first, eventually Lexi learned that she loved brushing the goats hair and petting the rabbit. She was so gentle and sweet about it.
After a full day, we packed up the stroller and headed home. We didn’t even back the car all the way out of the parking spot before Lexi fell fast asleep. :)
