Tyson Gauge Williams

There is nothing quite like the feeling of heading to the hospital to have a baby.  Your body goes through so many different emotions in a matter of a few hours, it can be pretty overwhelming.  On the way to sure to hospital I was so excited!! I couldn’t believe that in a few hours time I would finally meet this mysterious baby boy I had been toting around in my uterus for the past 276 days.
(the gorgeous view from my birthing  room :) )
Within a few minutes of arriving at the hospital, they checked me in, changed me into my hospital gown, hooked me up to Pitocin and away we went!  Labor had begun.  I don’t mind the contractions too much, but I figured as long as I was getting an epidural anyways, I might as well not feel anything.  So I opted to get my epidural right away, before they broke my water.  As I was waiting for the anesthesiologist to give me my epidural, I began to feel so nervous.  What if something went wrong?  What if I died and left my baby girl without a mom, my wonderful husband without a wife?  Those feelings of nerves gave way to pure fear.
After getting my epidural and playing some phase ten with Tyson, the feelings of fear left and the feeling of excitement returned.  About 4 1/2 hours after arriving at the hospital, the nurse came in to check me and I was dilated to an 8!! Woo hoo :)  This baby was going to come today after all. A few minutes later I was at a 10 and feeling the urge to push.  The Dr said she would be there in 5 minutes, but I couldn’t wait to push.  The nurse had me push a few light pushes to get the baby canal warmed up.  The dr. barely got there and got her bib on in time to catch Gauge.  Out he came!
(He peed on me twice and pooped on me once within the first 5 minutes of meeting him.)

They put the little white, goop covered baby on my chest and I fell in love immediately.
This whole pregnancy I had a thought that I kept pushing to the back of my mind.  How could I love another baby as much as I love Lexi?  How could it even be possible?  I felt guilty for thinking that.  Let me tell you, as soon as I held precious Gauge in my arms, my heart grew.  I felt just as much love for him as I felt for Lexi, I felt even more love for my husband who I thought I already loved as much as any woman could love a man, and my love for God grew too.  I felt so overwhelmed and so blessed.  I felt how much God loved me.  He must love me a whole bunch to bless me with such sweet kids and the most wonderful husband.
( Lexi loved her brother right when she saw him)
(To show her affection, she gave him his first ever noogie LOL)

Having a baby is the best experience in the world.  Pregnancy isn’t that awesome, but it is so so sooo worth it when you hold that newborn baby in your arms for the first time.  I love my little family!

  1. I think every mom has that feeling of wondering how she will ever love a baby as much as the first. And somehow you always do. So happy for you..

  2. Congrats on your new baby boy! I remember when Tyson was that little; as in, I remember when he was born. It's crazy that he's all grown up now. Glad I stumbled upon your blog. =)
